Keys of Horror

Intro

This is a custom set of Quests for IxiQuest rewarding an ever improving Charm/Range/Power Source item!

Most if not all keys have nerfed stats from their original versions. Smoked Glass and Cracked Marble have updated screenshots, but other keys have notes below them for their current stats. In most cases this is a loss of AC, HP, Mana, and a few bonus stats such as Avoidance, HP Regen, or Mana Regen.

I strongly advise to go and download the Maps before starting the quest line as the majority of mobs you need are marked on these maps.

Keys of Horror #1 - Befallen

• Head to Befallen and just inside the door you will see Meeks
  • 
    
  • He will offer the task Three Keys of Befallen
    • 
    • This is the standard Befallen progression. Kill a shadowknight, loot the key, move down a level, repeat etc.
      • Splintered Wooden Key drops from a shadowknight on the first level. It has a 100% drop rate and the respawn time on the mob is 8 minutes
      • Charred Bone Key drops from a shadowknight on the second level. There are two spawns, both have a 100% drop rate and the respawn time is 8 minutes
      • Smoked Glass Key drops from a shadowknight on the lowest level. There are three spawns, all have 100% drop rate and the respawn time is 8 minutes
  • Return to Meeks and hand him Splintered Wooden Key, Charred Bone Key and Smoked Glass Key and you will receive:

  • Meeks will tell you to find Shawn Greybird in Unrest

Keys of Horror #2 - Unrest

• Head to Unrest
• Find Shawn Greybird just outside the building
• Hail him and then hand him the Enchanted Smoked Glass Key and he will tell you he wants the Scuffed Silver Key, Cracked Glass Key, Polished Brass Key and the previous reward the Enchanted Smoked Glass Key
  • Scuffed Silver Key drops from an undead barkeep in the bar area. It has a 17.5% chance to drop and the mob has a 45% spawn chance with a respawn of 10 minutes and 40 seconds. It can be found in the bar area here:

  • Cracked Glass Key drops from an undead knight of unrest at the highest tower. It has a 100% drop rate and the mob has a 45% spawn chance with a respawn of 10 minutes and 40 seconds. It can be found at the top of the tower here:

  • Polished Brass Key drops from reclusive ghoul magus in the side room. It has a 100% drop rate and the mob has a 22% spawn chance with a respawn time of 10 minutes and 40 seconds. It can be found up the stairs from a side room on the 1st floor here:

  • Return to Shawn Greybird and hand him the Scuffed Silver Key, Cracked Glass Key, Polished Brass Key and Enchanted Smoked Glass Key and you will receive

• Shawn Greybird will tell you to find Gittern in Mistmoore

Keys of Horror #3 - Castle Mistmoore

• Head to Mistmoore
• Find Gittern Fairwolf just inside the zone
• Hail her and then give her the Enchanted Opaque Crystal Key and she will tell you she wants Sir Bronthas's Remains, Ashroot, Butler Syncalls Fang and the Enchanted Opaque Crystal Key
  • Sir Bronthas's Remains drops from Sir Bronthas in the garden area (and one other spawn point TBC). It has a 35% drop rate and the mob has 100% spawn chance with a 23 minutes and 20 seconds respawn time
    • 
  • Ashroot drops from an imp familiar in the graveyard area. It has a 55% drop rate and the mob has a 10% spawn chance with a 23 minute and 20 second respawn time. The ph is a glyphed sentry.
    • 
      • However, camping a mob with a 10% spawn chance with a 55% drop rate of the item with a 23 minute respawn is crazy. Aint' nobody got time for that! So, head back to the hub. Run from the Hub > Nektulos Forest > Lavastorm Mountains > Temple of Solusek Ro. Just inside you will find some red imps named a ward of ro. They have a 25% chance of dropping Ashroot and only have a 10 minute 40 second respawn. I got two on my first kill.
  • Butler Syncalls Fang drops from Butler Syncall towards the back of the castle on the first floor. It has a 35% drop rate and the mob has a 50% spawn chance with a 23 minute and 20 second respawn time. The ph is a deathly harbinger.

• Return to Gittern Fairwolf and hand her Sir Bronthas's Remains, Ashroot, Butler Syncalls Fang and the Enchanted Opaque Crystal Key and you will receive

• Gittern Fairwolf will tell you to find Talaysen in Kaesora

Keys of Horror #4 - Kaesora

• Head to Kaesora
• Find Talaysen Eastrider just inside the zone
• Hail her and then hand her the Enchanted Cracked Marble Key and she will tell you she wants Hidden Plans, Tattered Note, Xalgozian Fang and the Enchanted Cracked Marble Key
  • Hidden Plans drops from a corrupt spiritualist. On the lowest level facing out of the Xalgoz room it is to the right along the cave wall. It has a 100% drop rate and the mob has a 100% spawn chance with a respawn time of 10 minutes and 40 seconds
    • 
  • Tattered Note (WARNING: It is TEMPORARY/NO RENT!) drops from failed crypt raider. Facing south from the hole to jump down to the lowest level (Xalgoz area) run down to where the ramp takes you down. It has a 125% drop rate and the mob has a 34% spawn chance with a respawn time of 10 minutes and 40 seconds. The ph is either minion of xalgoz or spectral guardian

      • According to the Ixi Alla site there are a couple of other spawn groups for the failed crypt raider but it was easy enough to stand here and kill the ph/named whilst doing other things
  • Xalgozian Fang drops from Xalgoz on the lowest level. It has a 85% drop rate and the mob has a 50% spawn chance with a respawn time of 10 minutes and 40 seconds. The ph is guardian of Xalgoz.

• Return to Talaysen Eastrider and hand her Hidden Plans, Tattered Note, Xalgozian Fang and the Enchanted Cracked Marble Key and you will receive

• Talaysen Eastrider will tell you to find her colleague in the Dreadlands

Keys of Horror #5 - Karnor's Castle

• Head to Karnor's Castle
• Find Anifa Brightsmith just inside the zone
• Hail her and then hand her the Enchanted Purified Liquid Key and she will tell you she wants Plague Mites, Scroll of the Dark, Baton of Faith and the Enchanted Purified Liquid Key
  • Plague Mites drop from a large number of mobs, happy farming!
    • 
  • Scroll of the Dark drops from skeletal warlord. It has a 17% drop rate and the mob has a 5% spawn chance with a respawn of 24 minutes. There are 31 possible spawn points around the main castle area. Best to clear the courtyards, ramparts and inner castle above ground (see spawn points here and here)
  • Baton of Faith drops from undead jailer. It has a 10% drop rate and the mob has a 10% spawn chance with a respawn of 24 minutes. There are 7 possible spawn point on basement level 1 (3) and basement level 2 (4)

• Return to Anifa Brightsmith and hand her the Plague Mites, Scroll of the Dark, Baton of Faith and the Enchanted Purified Liquid Key and you will receive

• Anifa Brightsmith will tell you to find her assistant in The Hole

Keys of Horror #6 - The Hole

• Head to The Hole
• The NPC you need to find is named Colin Seahelm, however, he is not always up. He can be found in the fireplace room in the first set of buildings after dropping down to where the constructs are located. He has a 25% spawn chance with a 20 minute respawn time. PH mobs are a chest/a flighty fiend/a rock golem

• Hand him Enchanted Bubbly Carbonated Key and he will tell you he wants Gold Lined Heretic Cloak, Drop of Mercury, Essence of a Ghost and the Enchanted Bubbly Carbonated Key
  • Gold Lined Heretic Cloak is a rare drop (2%-2.5%) from any of the spirits in the zone
  • Drop of Mercury drops from pretty much everything in the zone with a much higher drop rate, this shouldn't take long to get
  • Essence of a Ghost drops from the Ghost of Kindle. It has a 100% drop chance and the mob has a 100% spawn chance with a respawn time of 10 minutes and 40 seconds. The ghost can be found near the keeper of the tombs. From the zone in make your way towards the docks area, head west and then circle down south and up into this area. Alternatively drop in from Paineel and work your way through the tunnel and then south and up into this area

• Head back to Colin Seahelm (or spawn him again if he is not up) and hand him the Gold Lined Heretic Cloak, Drop of Mercury, Essence of a Ghost and Enchanted Bubbly Carbonated Key and you will receive

• Colin Seahelm will tell you to travel to a graveyard for dragons in Velious

Keys of Horror #7 - Dragon Necropolis

• Head to Dragon Necropolis
• The NPC you need to find is named Reek. Reek is located deep in the Paebala Caves in the same room as Neb laying on a pile of bones. (Enemy placement on in-game map is accurate, refer to the map for details)
• Hail him/her and then hand him/her the Key Shaped Mist and he/she will tell you he/she wants Neb's Head, Vaniki's Heart, and the Key Shaped Mist
  • Neb's Head is a 100% drop rate from Neb (72 Hours spawn) and can be found deep in the second layer of Dragon Necropolis at the end of the Paebala tunnel. He is surrounded by his followers who, depending on faction, may or may not be KOS. He has 31,000 HPs and deals 150 to 479 damage per hit. An experienced group comprised of a Warrior, Cleric, Shaman, DPS is preferred. Recommend setting up camp in the side room just before Neb and clearing the tunnel into his lair. With some luck/finesse you maybe be able to pull Neb with just one or two links.
  • Vaniki's Heart is a 100% drop from Vaniki (2 Hours spawn). Vaniki has several spawn locations throughout the tunnels. Would absolutely recommend bringing a tracker to locate him. He has 45,000 HPs, deals 94 to 271 damage per hit, and flurries. An experienced group comprised of a Warrior, Cleric, Shaman, DPS is preferred. Vaniki is not near as strong as Neb however and could easily be defeated by a strong duo (depending on where he is spawned).
• Once the items are obtained trade the Key Shaped Mist, Neb's Head, Vaniki's Heart to Reek to claim your reward. Reek will despawn once items are turned in. He has a 1 hour respawn time.

Result: An Invisible Key

Notes: The most difficult part of this quest is traversing the caves and dealing with the large amount of rats that can accumulate if someone gets aggro due to the large linking radius. Would recommend some form of invisibility like the Circlet of Shadow to make navigating the tunnels a bit easier and to stick to the walls. There are traps which will strip buffs and knock you out of invisibility to be wary of, as well as a nasty beetle trap which pops 5+ light blue con beetles. Take your time and be cautious and you should be successful.

Keys of Horror #8 - Tower of Frozen Shadows

• Head to the Tower of Frozen Shadow in Iceclad Ocean, Velious.
• Hail Insanity Sonder Memonic to open a dialogue.
• Choose the Items option and he will instruct you to acquire 6 different keys dropped in the Tower of Frozen Shadows and to combine in them with "An Invisible Key" in a Soulbox.
  • Defiled Three Toothed Key
  • Defiled Bone Finger Key
  • Defiled Frosty Key
  • Defiled Crystal Key
  • Defiled Small Rusty Key
  • Defiled Large Metal Key
• Choose the Soulbox option and he will give you a Soulbox. This is used to combine all the required items into The Memory of a Key.

Result: The Memory of a Key
